Amazon.com Product Description
The affordable, entry-level Timex T5G941 is great for those just starting out with heart rate monitoring. This digital wristwatch-style monitor continuously tracks your heart rate via a comfortable, elastic chest strap (which fists chest sizes from 25 to 53 inches). The large, easy-to-read display recalls your activity time and average, peak, and minimum heart rate, and it includes 12/24 hour time and month/date display. It also features INDIGLO night light backlighting, up to 2 years of battery life, and is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet)--enabling it to withstand splashes and accidental dunks into the water, but not suitable for swimming.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Monitor   March 5, 2010
Daniel L. Groff (Lancaster, PA USA)
I have been using the heart rate monitor at my local Planet Fitness and seems to be working great. Picks up my heart rate on all their equipment without any trouble at all. The chest band is comfortable once properly adjusted. This monitor should last a long time as you can just install a new battery when the old one dies. The watch band is plastic and comfortable on the wrist. If your looking for a plain old heart rate monitor to make sure your in the zone then Timex is your answer. I would buy another one if this one went bad.

4 out of 5 stars simple and almost perfect   February 25, 2010

Perfect for monitoring your heart rate during workouts. BIG dial, one touch and you get continuous monitoring. Easy to read the large numbers when we leave the lights off during spinning. My indiglo functions does not seem to work, or I have not figured out how to use it. I don't work out in pitch blackness so I do not care. The chest band is comfortable but is a bit small if you have a football build. Great value for the money. I wanted simple to use, and got it.

5 out of 5 stars Simple and effective   February 23, 2010

I bought this HRM watch after reviewing the specs carefully and i am pretty happy with its performance. It does what it claims it would do. I have had no problems what so ever in the 1 month when i have been using this. The best thing about this product in my opinion are
1) It is easy to change batteries by the user
2) consistent hr readings
3) no need to wet the chest strap flaps. As i have been able to get this to work without wetting it.
4) the chest strap fits very snugly. So i don't feel it awkward during my workouts

Minus Points
1) The hr watch is designed in such a way that the strap cannot be changed. If the strap is damaged you cannot fix this easily
2) You can store only the last workout information. that too only the following 3 readings are stored for you
- Workout duration
- Avg Heart Rate
- Peak Heart Rate

But this is anyway mentioned in the specs. So you should be fine with this little information if you are going to use this device only to make sure that you are working out in your zone. And that you have no intention of reviewing and reconstructing your HR readings second by second post workout. If so then then this would be ideal.

5 out of 5 stars Great buy   February 22, 2010

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. She's used it a few times per week since Christmas and it has worked well every time.

1 out of 5 stars Can't get any reading   February 19, 2010

Could not get this one to work. Tried to replace batteries, but it didn't do anything. I'll be returning it to amazon, because it seems cheaper than dealing with timex's warranty.
